The Ultimate Digital Transformation

Sargents: A Complete Website, Content and Digital Presence Project

Our recent build for Sargents Limited showcases how we fully support customers to make it happen, within a matter of weeks.

Understanding the Business Properly

A credible transport website cannot be written from assumptions or generic haulage language. Andy made two trips to Kent to see Sargents first-hand, speak with the people involved and understand its RDC-to-store delivery operation.

Those visits helped to understand the working environment, vehicles, people, customer expectations and professional standards the website needed to communicate. They also identified the most useful structure and language for our customer rather than simply filling a template with broad industry wording.

Gathering Original Photography, Video and Interviews

During the two visits, Andy took original photography and video of the business, its vehicles and working environment. We interviewed people and listened carefully to how the company described its work, values and service.

And yes, he stood on the side of the road to capture the trucks passing, that you can see in the Hero area of the website (the top banner)

This gave the project a bank of authentic material and meant the finished website could represent the real business. It avoided the detached feel that comes from relying on generic stock photographs or copy that could belong to any transport company.

All of the images taken have been shared with the managment team, for them to use for media and tender applications.

Planning, Writing and Structuring the Website

Once he understood the company and had gathered the source material, he planned the page structure and wrote the website content from the ground up.

The work included:

  • Planning the overall website structure and customer journey.
  • Writing  ALL the wording for the website pages.
  • Selecting and organising the photography and video.
  • Explaining the company’s services clearly and professionally.
  • Creating a consistent tone across the site.
  • Making the information easy for customers to navigate.
  • Building the site around the real Sargents business rather than generic haulage claims.

Very little input was required from the business owner because the research and content-gathering had already given us the information needed. This is particularly valuable for a busy owner who needs a strong website but cannot step away from day-to-day operations to become the project manager, copywriter and photographer.

A Wider Digital Presence

The project extended beyond the website. Andy set up and organised the company’s Google Business Profile, formerly referred to as Google Places for Business, to support visibility, trust and accurate business information on Google.

He also sorted the company’s Google review links, making it easier for customers to leave feedback and helping Sargents build its online reputation.

The LinkedIn company page was reviewed and aligned with the website so the wording, presentation and overall impression were consistent. When customers, suppliers or potential employees move between the website and LinkedIn, the business should look and sound like the same organisation.

Ownership and Control

Sargents was given access to Google Analytics and Google Search Console through its own Google account. This is important because the company should own and understand its own reporting, search-performance data and digital assets.

The business can see how people find and use the website, monitor search visibility and receive alerts about issues that may need attention. It is not locked out of its data or dependent on a third party for basic access.

Full Website Access and Autonomy

Sargents have thier own website username and login. The owner and team can update wording, replace pictures, edit content or add and remove pages themselves if they choose.

Ongoing support remains available, but genuine support should not mean keeping a customer dependent. Giving the business access and control provides flexibility while ensuring expert help is still there when required.

Training for the Owner and Transport Manager

A login on its own is not a complete handover. Andy recorded and narated a practical training video for both the business owner and the transport manager, showing them how to update pages and content.

The videos provide guidance they can return to whenever needed and make routine in-house changes more realistic. The team can manage straightforward edits confidently without having to request external support for every word or photograph.

Ongoing Monitoring and Support

Although the website and digital tools are under the company’s control, our involvement does not end at launch. We will continue to support Sargents and keep an eye on the areas that can affect its digital presence.

Ongoing support may include:

Z

Reviewing website performance and future content needs.

Z

Monitoring Google Analytics and Search Console alerts.

Z

Checking search visibility and technical issues.

Z

Supporting LinkedIn updates and opportunities.

Z

Helping with reviews, reputation-building and future website changes.

This gives Sargents the balance of independence and backup: the company owns and can manage its digital presence, while experienced support remains available.

Ownership of Analytics

We ensured that Sargents Limited has full ownership of their analytics and search data. This empowers them to make informed decisions based on real-time insights, enhancing their ability to track performance and optimize strategies.

Full Website Access

Our approach guarantees that Sargents has complete autonomy over their website. With unrestricted access, they can update content, manage functionalities, and adapt to changing business needs without dependency on external support.

Autonomy in Digital Strategy

By providing comprehensive training and resources, we enable Sargents to independently manage their digital strategy. This empowers them to maintain control over their online presence and swiftly respond to market dynamics.

Comprehensive Training for Sargents

The recorded training sessions were designed to equip the Sargents team with the necessary skills to manage their digital assets effectively.

This approach ensures that Sargents can confidently navigate their digital landscape, leveraging the full potential of their revamped online presence.

More Than a Website Build

The Sargents project involved far more than designing pages. It required two visits to Kent, original photography and video, interviews and business discovery, complete website copy and structure, Google Business Profile setup, review links, LinkedIn alignment, Facebook links, Analytics and Search Console access, website ownership, training and ongoing monitoring.

Most importantly, it was organised around the reality of running a transport business. The owner was able to concentrate on customers, staff and operations while we took care of the digital project.

The result is an authentic, professional and manageable online presence that Sargents owns, understands and can continue to build on.
